Nicole Pollock reports:
The original proposal from Apex Real Estate Holdings and Walter Wayne Development would have replaced a pair of commercial buildings between 3535 and 3553 University Ave., a short distance from Hilldale on Madison’s Near West Side, with 71 apartments, 76 covered parking stalls and about 1,400 square feet of commercial space.
After reaching an agreement with a neighboring property owner to acquire two single-family houses on North Meadow Lane, the development team is back before the city with plans for a six-story, 146-unit building with 166 parking stalls and 4,000 square feet of commercial space. Approximately 20 parking stalls would be reserved for the building’s commercial users, project plans show.
