According to Merriam-Webster, the first-known use of 'aphorism', as in a concise statement of a principle, occurred in 1528.

  1. bopeep
  2. day laborer
  3. fishery
  4. scot-free
  5. topsy-turvy
And while we're at it.....

"On Top of Spaghetti" by Tom Glazer and the Do-Re-Mi Children's Chorus debuted at #68 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the week ending 6/1/1963.  It spent 9 weeks on the chart, peaking at #14.

One-hit novelty tune wonder.
