Rep. Scott Fitzergald acknowledged Kennedy has been “controversial in some of the things that he’s said in the past” but said it was not a surprise to see Kennedy offered a position in the administration given his campaigning for Trump over the last several months. 

Fitzgerald, who served with Gaetz on the House Judiciary Committee, called him “a very smart man” and said “nobody was a better pit bull" on the committee than Gaetz in “going after some of the bureaucracy.”
