The Iowa Department of Natural Resources recently released the annual August Roadside Survey results, which provide data on population numbers for several species. According to this year's survey, the statewide pheasant population was 19 birds per 30-mile route, down from 23 birds per route last year. Matt Dollison is a Wildlife Biologist with the Iowa DNR. Dollison says southwest Iowa saw a relatively sharp decrease in pheasant populations per the annual count.
