Based on Wisconsin's experience, more law passed typically means that the GOP legislators are not minding its own business. They push to enact a program of conservative social engineering.
Moreover, Republicans give lip service to "goverenment is best that is closest to the people" but then pass truckloads of bills that limit or overrule local control.
