The book depicts families with different makeups, including those with same-sex parents, according to a description of the book on Amazon.

Katrina Moldenhauer said at the July 8 committee meeting the book is inappropriate for preschool children and cited the author's history of "writing and illustrating problematic books for kids." 

"Kids don't need to be learning about who to love and all of that at the age of 4. That, to me, is grooming," she said.
