Madison Wisconsin west-side development: From farmhouse to Uno Terrace's recreation room

The farmhouse, moved closer to Mineral Point Road as part of this infill development project, now has a very long and large tail.

The brick farmhouse sits on a ridge overlooking what is now Madison’s Far West Side and is one the few reminders of this area’s agrarian past.
The silos, barn, outbuildings and clotheslines were removed decades ago as development encroached and ultimately swallowed what once was pasture, corn and soybean fields, and gravel roads.
But the two-story farmhouse on Mineral Point Road that was converted to restaurant space in 1981 remains and is once again serving as a communal place while preserving a piece of history.
The more than 130-year-old building has been converted to a community room as part of a $22 million, 64-unit workforce housing project in a joint effort by Northpointe Development, DreamLane Real Estate Group and Lutheran Social Services.
