Madison, Wisconsin: Old Sauk Road apartment proposal gets a thumbs down from neighbors

This oasis of agricultural history appears destined for a makeover, something neighbors admit is inevitable and reasonable. What’s unclear is the size and scope of a new development and what those who live around the property will find acceptable.
Based on the turnout and responses to an Oct. 24 community meeting hosted by Madison’s planning division, a 175-unit, four-story apartment building is not the answer.
Around 250 people signed into a Zoom meeting to hear the proposal from Stone House Development and New Development Madison. Of the 30 people who commented on the plan during the meeting, none spoke in favor, citing size, height, traffic, lighting, noise and parking concerns.
