Cruising Main Street in Stoughton, Wisconsin

Stoughton is located in southeast Dane County, 20 miles southeast of Madison and 28 miles northwest of Janesville in Rock County.  It experienced steady population growth in its early years but then lost 12% of its residents during the 1920s.  It quickly regained its slow, steady pace of growth through the 1960s.  From 1970 to 2000, its population more than doubled.  Since then it's gone back to slow but steady,.  At least for a time.
