Dane County Judge Jacob Frost again ordered the Assembly's Office of Special Counsel to stop deleting records and rejected a motion to dismiss a lawsuit filed by liberal watchdog group American Oversight seeking documents related to the review that began in 2021 and was overseen by former Supreme Court Justice Michael Gableman until he was fired by Speaker Robin Vos in 2022.
The lawsuit was filed in Dane County after Gableman testified in June in a separate lawsuit brought by the group that he deletes records he deems to be irrelevant or useless to his review, a practice his attorney acknowledged and Gableman reiterated after a tense court hearing after which he was held in contempt for his behavior.
