I’ve been thinking about cousin Mim and her husband Tom lately. Even though they live just an hour south of us, we haven’t seen them in a while, not since New Year’s Eve 2017. As if sensing our family concern, Tom sent an email to a group of relatives and friends on Saturday with the subject line, “Celebrating Mim’s birthday”. Unfortunately, he didn’t write a message – no news on how they are getting through the pandemic or about the status of their health. Medically, they both experienced a challenging 2018, including Mim’s difficult recovery from hip replacement surgery, but they appear to be on the mend since then.

Mim responded to our belated birthday greetings and family update.
Hey, beautiful puzzle. I love to do puzzles. Unfortunately, the only ones I have are up at the lake cottage. We have put the cottage up for sale, but with this virus, probably it will take a long time to sell. We were hoping to get up there this summer, but we heard Michigan is telling cottage owners not to go to their cottages. I do hope we can get up there just to check on things, though. We are doing our best to hunker down and be safe, too.
We are saddened by the death of Dave’s uncle in England, who died a couple of days ago from the virus. The family is devastated. He was only 57. (Dave is their daughter Rachel’s husband.)
We take walks most days unless it is bad weather. We also play cribbage and scrabble and read a lot. We’ve watched movies, too. We saw Harriet, The Guernsey Potato Pie movie, ( can’t remember the whole name but it is great), Prime Suspect, Bleak House (Dickens), to name some.
I talked to cousin Carolyn and she is still doing music for her church but online. She is also still teaching 10 students, which surprised me.
Glad Andy, Eddie and Madi are doing ok.
Love to you both and stay well.
