Olivia was a steady, if unspectacular, performer during the first half of the 20th century, which was followed by a bit of aa decline during the 1950s and 1960s.  She then shot up more than 300 places on the baby names chart in the early 1970s, enough to flirt with the top 200 for 2 years.   After taking a breather, she continued her ascent and is now the ruling baby name for girls.  She's enjoying her 3rd year at the top spot.
