Alcohol abuse and domestic violence in Wisconsin

A national report from the Violence Policy Center released in October ranked Wisconsin eighth highest in cases of men murdering women in 2020.
Then, in 2021, of the 467 people killed as a result of domestic violence incidents, 80 were Wisconsin residents, according to a new report from the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Not only did that make it the deadliest year for domestic violence in Wisconsin, but it also meant that 17% of all of the nation's domestic violence deaths — almost one in six — came from a single state: Wisconsin.
The majority of these deaths were the result of gunshot wounds. The majority of the perpetrators had intimate relationships with their victims.
And then there's this most curious sentence.
The reason for this phenomenon is not entirely clear, although the pandemic and the uncertain times in its wake seem to play a big role.
An article word search of 'alcohol' get no hits.
