Michigan is on fire again with the virus

 

In fact, the state set a new record for 7-day average of new Covid cases on November 19, 2021

As a result, this headline comes as no surprise.

At least eight hospitals are 100 percent full, according to the latest state data. west Michigan’s largest system, Spectrum Health, reached a system-record number of patients in both its hospitals and ICUs, as statewide hospitalization levels continue to climb. 
Dr. Darryl Elmouchi, Spectrum’s president, stood at his computer Friday afternoon in his Grand Rapids office, next to a row of windows looking out on a cold, gray day. Normally, Spectrum would take up to 50 transfer patients each day from smaller hospitals or rural emergency rooms, he said. But now, it can’t.

Counties with the most cases per 100,000 residents voted for Trump in 2020.

Just 9 of Michigan's 83 counties voted for Biden.  Four of them -- Wayne, Oakland, Washtenaw, and Ingham -- comprise 37% of the state's population.

The proposed state ban on vaccine mandates would also bar businesses — including hospitals — from forcing unvaccinated workers to wear a surgical face mask "as a consequence" of not getting vaccinated.
