Hancock County, Indiana: Why Republican strategists lose sleep at night

3rd party votes:  23.3% in 1992, 11.2% in 1996. 6.8% in 2016
(Alabama segregationist George Wallace received 14.6% of the vote in 1968)

Trump received 3,922 more votes than he did in 2016, a 16% increase.   Biden received 3,991 more votes than Clinton did in 2016, an increase of 45%.

Trump's share of the vote decreased by 1.1 percentage points.  Biden increased Clinton's share of the vote by 5.7 percentage points.

Demographically speaking.  A few decades behind neighboring Hamilton County's progress.

  • 11.9% - Indiana
  • 10.5% - U.S. (they're joking, of course)

The dumbing down of America is not working in Clay County as the GOP would like to see it.
