Clay County, Missouri: Why Republican strategists lose sleep at night

3rd party votes:  28.3% in 1992, 11% in 1996. 7.6% in 2016
(Alabama segregationist George Wallace received 15.8% of the vote in 1968)

Trump received 7,129 more votes than he did in 2016, a 12% increase.   Biden received 14,096 more votes than Clinton did in 2016, an increase of 31%.

Trump's share of the vote decreased by 0.7 percentage points.  Biden increased Clinton's share of the vote by 6.1 percentage points.

  • 33.2% - Clay County
  • 29.2% - Missouri
  • 32.1% - U.S.
% of population 65 and older:
  • 14.4% - Clay County

  • 16.5% - U.S.
% of population living in poverty:
  •   9.1% - Clay County
  • 12.9% - Missouri
  • 10.5% - U.S. (they're joking, of course)

The GOP dumbing down of America is not working in Clay County.
