Great Lakes yellow perch have been hard to come by since summer 2019 as a result of a variety of environmental factors [just say it: climate change], and seafood vendors say those trends will continue to affect the perch supply for at least a few more years.
The perch catch also was reduced because commercial fishermen got a late start because of the coronavirus, further reducing the supply.
No perch at the Laurel, but their two fish fry offerings are reasonably priced. And they serve up the best walleye you'll find anywhere in the Madison area. (Can't go wrong with a side of hash browns O'Brien.)
