GET ME REWRITE: Arizona GOP Governor Doug Ducey continues to kill off his base

Headline from AlterNet

Through a spokesman, Republican Gov. Doug Ducey called the decision "an example of judicial overreach."

The ruling may also impact Ducey's efforts to discourage Arizona public school leaders from requiring students and staff to wear masks.
In August, he announced grants to boost per-pupil funding in public and charter schools, but only for schools that make masks optional and keep classrooms open for in-person learning. Ducey is also offering families who want to opt out of school mask mandates vouchers to cover private school tuition. Those programs are funded by federal COVID-19 relief funds.

The majority of Arizona residents live in areas that are at extremely high risk of Covid spread.

9/6/2021 update, "Arizona governor Doug Ducey has been a COVIDIOT from day 1 of the pandemic", .starts here.

[Ducey] pledged to withhold millions of dollars in federal pandemic relief from schools that pass mask mandates in defiance of a state law that takes effect at the end of September. He offered $7,000 vouchers to families that opt to leave districts that require face coverings. Masking decisions, he said, belonged to parents, not school officials.\
“In Arizona we are pro-parent,” Mr. Ducey said at a recent news conference. “I want parents to do what they think is the right thing to do.”

Arizona's current 7-day average of new Covid cases (3,225) is as high as it's been since February 8, 2021, and four-and-a-half times higher than it was a year ago (582).
