Recent school opening news:

Bowling Green superintendent tests positive for COVID-19 as school reopening debate rages.  (Louisville Courier-Journal, 8/18/2020)
Fields' announcement comes as some Kentucky superintendents and lawmakers are at odds with Gov. Andy Beshear, who recommended schools wait until Sept. 28 to begin in-person classes.
Beshear said Kentucky's case levels and postivity rate are too high to send kids back to school, where educators say social distancing and other health protocols will be difficult to implement.
The majority of Kentucky districts have said they'll heed Beshear's suggestion, starting the school year virtually.
