Milwaukee leaders push back following heated exchange over child welfare services.  (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, 6/11/2019)
At issue was the Republican plan to cut a total of $14 million in shared revenue to Milwaukee County in 2020 and 2021 to offset increased state costs associated with the county's child welfare services.
Those services are administered by the state through the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families Division of Milwaukee Child Protective Services, whereas county governments in the rest of the state administer those services at the cost to their taxpayers.
