Meet the 7 House critters who voted against back pay for federal workers

Those whose names appear in CAPITAL LETTERS are Freedom Caucus crazies.

Congress Approves Backpay For Federal Workers Affected By Government Shutdown.  (HuffPost, 1/11/2019)
The bill still requires a signature from President Donald Trump, but Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) indicated Thursday that the president told him he would sign it if it reached his desk.
The Senate unanimously passed the measure, and all but seven Republican members in the House voted in favor of it.

"We can work out something, for some sort of compensation, but to get paid full pay for maybe three or four months when you're not working?" Grothman said. “That’s why we're $22 trillion in debt. These people around here can’t say no to anything,” he said of his colleagues.

A Shut Down Government Actually Costs More Than an Open One.  (The New York Times, 1/9/2019)
A federal government shutdown might seem like a great way to save money: When agencies aren’t open, they aren’t spending tax dollars. But history shows us that closing the government actually costs more than keeping it open.
[1]  Federal employees will eventually get their salaries — for work they weren’t allowed to perform
[2] Some taxes and fees won’t be collected
[3] The government will owe other payments, with interest
[4] The economy will take a hit (and so will tax revenues)

Retiring Guy suggests that during a government shutdown, members of Congress do not get paid.  And they do not receive any back pay.

As of today, they should anticipate receiving $10,964.38 less than the standard "Average Joe" (really, No Labels??) annual salary of $174,000.
