UPDATE. It's another Phyrric victory for GOP in Georgia last night

Former GOP Rep. Tom Price was first elected, unopposed, to the Georgia 6th in 2004.  He also faced no challenger in 2010.  In his last 3 elections (2012, 2014, 2016), he was re-elected by an average maring of 28.1 percentage points.  Karen Handel defeated Jon Ossoff by 3.8.

Price now serves as Secretary of Health and Human Services.

Frank Bruni of the The New York Times takes the myopic point of view and trots out all the usual political cliches.  (He's usually much better than this.)

The question, Bruni asks, is what happens next. How do Democrats buoy their spirits, maintain their ardor and press on?

Very simply, keep the big picture in view -- for starters.

Sure, a victory would have been great, but Democrats made significant headway into a deep red district.  How do you think Republicans who won their seats in 2016 by narrow margins feel right now?

First Phyrric victory post starts here.

Freedom Caucus crazy, now Trump budget director, Mick Mulvaney won his 4 elections by an average margin of 15.8 percentage points.

Right now, with 99% of the vote in, Republican Ralph Norman has defeated Democrat Archie Parnell by 3.4 percentage points.

Not how much the pattern has been reversed.

Remember, people, this is SOUTH CAROLINA.
