The popularity of 'Elaine' as a baby name is graphed here.  Surprising, we have yet to take a look at 'Deborah'.  (One of Elaine's nieces.)

'Deborah' enjoyed a very successful, albeit brief run during the mid-20th century, spending 12 years (1950-1962) in the top 10.  In 1955, she nearly knocked 'Mary' out of the top spot.
