A hunger strike and population growth

Stanley said one of his greatest strengths as a candidate is his willingness and ability to listen to diverse constituencies. “I am a listener,” he said. “I will hear what people have to say. I will listen regardless of what my wants are.”

“My father was Dane County Coroner at the time and we moved to DeForest to regain that small town feel that McFarland was beginning to lose being so close to Madison,” he said.

As you can see from the line graph below, DeForest leapfrogged over McFarland during the 1990s.  DeForest's population increased 50% during this decade while McFarland experienced a 23% gain.
