Dear Mattel, As you already know, talking dolls have been done before.

My sister had one of these very annoying Mattel products.

But then we have moved well past pull-string stage.

In November, Mattel plans to introduce Hello Barbie, an interactive, Wi-Fi-connected doll that will retail for $75.

Chatty Cathy is the inspiration for Talky Tina, who starred in one of the best-ever Twilight Zone episodes, "Living Doll".  June Foray (also of Rocky the Squirrel and Natasha fame) provided the voice for both dolls.
