UPDATE: After 4 years of decreases, IMLS survey shows small increase in public library staffing in 2013

Increases and decreases:

• 8.4% increase in FTE total library staff from 2001-2008.
• 5.8% decrease in FTE total library staff from 2008-2011.
• 9.6% increase in FTE ALA-MLS staff from 2001-2009.
• 4.2% decrease in FTE ALA-MLS staff from 2009-2011.
• 2.5% increase in FTE total library staff from 2001-2012
• 5.0% increase in FTE ALA-MLS staff from 2001-2012
