Views from Gianicolo, the "Balcony of Rome"

At least that's what our National Geographic guidebook, "Walking Rome", calls it.

Gianicolo, also known as Janiculum Hill, is located just west of the Trastevere neighborhood, where our bed and breakfast is located.  Trestavere is across the Tiber River from Rome'shistoric center.  In other words, we're within walking distance of most of our week's itinerary.

Our hosts, Desiree and Davide, highly recommended Gianicolo as a starting point for our Rome's meanderings.  Great advice!
