Actually, the most recent Democrat to represent Kansas in the U.S. House of Representatives is
Dennis Moore, who served the 3rd District from 1999 to 2011.
On the other hand, the last time a Democrat represented Kansas in the U.S. Senate was 1939.
George McGill was elected to fill a vacancy in 1930 and re-elected in 1932. He unsuccessfully ran for re-election 4 times: 1938, 1942, 1948, and 1954.
Except for
Wyandotte County (Kansas City) and
Douglas County (Lawrence,
University of Kansas), the Sunflower State is decidedly red.
