Library Turns to Fees After City Council's Refusal to Increase Levy

Park Ridge library to start charging non-residents for programs. (Park Ridge Herald-Advocate, 3/20/2014)

Struggling to maintain service levels.  The library has cited the Park Ridge City Council’s rejection of its request to increase the library’s portion of the property-tax levy as the reason behind implementing new fees and budget cuts, including a reduction in library hours on Fridays and Sundays and the closure of the library on Sundays between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day weekend.

And there might be more fees in store.  Library patrons are being surveyed on whether they are willing to pay for certain programs and results of the survey are expected to be shared with the Library Board in May.

Library survey:  Adult programs.

Library survey:  Children''s programs.
