In Oshkosh, the Public Library is a Bad Reason to Raise Taxes

Editorial: Good, bad and ugly reasons to raise taxes. (Oshkosh Northwestern, 11/17/2102)

From the preliminary budget document:

Looks like a cut of $119,200, or 5%.

Oshkosh City Council  members will have one more opportunity to make revisions to the 2013 budget -- "next week", according to the editorial.  You'd think the newspaper editors, in the interests of providing full information and practicing the kind of transparency they have demanded from elected officials, could be more specific and suggest that residents contact their council members with input.

According to the city's website, the Council meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month, which means they'll meet on November 27th unless a special meeting has been schedule beforehand.

All council meetings include this standing agenda item, an opportunity for residents to briefly address their council members  year-round -- about the services they love and value, for example.

Response from Oshkosh Public Library Director Jeff Gilderson-Duwe.
