In Promoting a Year-Round School Schedule, the Wisconsin State Journal Editorial Board Overlooks the Contributions of Public Libraries to Help Stop Summer Slide
From the air-conditioned offices of the Wisconsin State Journal, 6/18/2012. Editorial: Stop the summer slide.
Excerpt: Summer school gets a bad rap as remedial and punitive. That needs to change with year-round schedules so all students expect and benefit from shorter breaks spread throughout the year. That way, teachers don’t have to spend so much time each fall re-teaching what most students have forgot.
From WEAC Research Paper: Wisconsin's Public School Buildings:
Air Conditioning: Air conditioning is a rarity in the majority of classrooms in Wisconsin; nearly two-thirds of the buildings do not have a single classroom which is air conditioned. At the other extreme, in nearly 15% of the buildings all of the classrooms are air conditioned.
Would like to see this mapped.
