Unwilling (Too Lazy) or Unable to Provide the Full Story
Home sales rise in state. (Fond du Lac Reporter, 9/27/2011)
Excerpt: Statewide, home sales rose 31.1 percent in August, including a 41 percent jump in the west region, 38.4 percent in the southeast, 32.2 percent in the south central, 25.9 percent in the northeast, 20.5 percent in the north, and 12.4 percent in the central region.
Don't pop the bubbly just yet.
From a 9/26/2011 Wisconsin Realtors Association news release, from which Heather Stanek cribbed another quote: “This was not a surprise since home sales in July and August of last year were very low after the federal homebuyers tax credit program expired in June of 2010,” said Rob Keefe, Chairman of the WRA Board of Directors."
Year to date, Wisconsin home sales are up 1.3%.
And when I do the math, the median value of Wisconsin homes has dropped 18.5% during the past 5 years. (I'm not ready to buy Malkasian's and the FHFA's spin.)
