New Computers and an Expanded AV Collection @ the Jasper City Library
Local libraries obtain new computers. (Daily Mountain Eagle, 7/18/2011
Excerpt: Prior to this month’s upgrade at the Jasper City Library, the facility had six computers for use by its patrons. “We were averaging 900 people a month using them,” Sandra Underwood said. “We anticipate 1,200 or more people a month using the new computers.”
Sandra Underwood said the library is required by the Children’s Internet Protection Act to filter the computers from inappropriate websites. The library system’s policy also bans the use of social network sites like Facebook.
Another new feature at the Jasper City Library is the addition of a DVD library. Sandra Underwood said the DVDs, which patrons can check out for up to seven days at a time, were added about three weeks ago. She said those with a valid library card can check out up to two DVDS at a time.
