Ebooks, Netflix, and Library Building Projects (Part 30, Stoughton Massachusetts Public LIbrary)
Library expansion approved. (Boston Globe, 5/15/2011)
Excerpt: Town Meeting members Wednesday took the first steps toward expanding the Stoughton Public Library by overwhelmingly passing two articles that accepted the design of the library renovation and expansion and dealt with how to pay for it. Harvey Levisohn, chairman of the library’s building committee, said the town has been talking about expanding the library for 15 years and that the new facility would offer full handicapped accessibility, several meeting spaces, and greater energy efficiency. The library has applied for a state grant that will cover half the $14 million cost of the expansion; a bond issue would cover the rest.
