Fond du Lac Public Library Looking at a Possible $13,000 ILS?

Under the headline, Council to get a look at new city buses. (Fond du Lac Reporter, 4/25/2011)

Excerpt: Fond du Lac Public Library Director Ken Hall will give the City Council the background on the library's intentions to change its computer systems — either by joining another shared system or by continuing as a stand-alone system.

The Fond du Lac Public Library paid $103,000 to Winnefox to participate in this computer consortium this year. The estimated savings to the taxpayers if the Library Board votes to leave Winnefox would be an estimated $50,000 to $90,000, depending on the alternative.

Hall said the Library Board will attempt to balance service and cost in its decision.

The City of Fond du Lac is paying 64 percent of the library's 2011 budget or about $1.8 million. The county pays 29 percent of the budget — just over $800,000; and the remainder comes from fees, fines and reimbursement from other counties.
