U.S. Census Bureau Announces 2010 Census Population Counts

U.S. population as of 4/1/2010:
308,745,538, a 9.6% increase.

U.S. population as of 4/1/2000.
281,421,906.

Population increase by region.
South:  14,318,924.
West:  8,747,621.
Midwest:  2,524,225.
Northeast.  1,722,862.

States with biggest gains (numerically, percentage)
Texas.  25,145,561, an increase of 4,293,741.
Nevada.  2,700,551, an increase of 35.1%.

Wisconsin's population:  5,686,986, up 6.0%.

Wisconsin retains its 8 seats on the U.S. House of Representatives.
