Beaverton City Library to Open Its First Branch on June 25

Excerpt: More than 2,100 people come through the doors of the main Beaverton City Library each day and more than 2.7 million items are circulated each year. The main library is one of the busiest in the state. However, the library has become crowded with seating space, shelving and computers all at capacity. In early January 2009, library officials began looking for ways to help alleviate some of these pressures and a new library branch was approved in fall 2009.

“We’ll now be able to provide better service to residents in the southern part of Beaverton who might otherwise have a difficult time getting to the main library,” said new branch manager John Finn. “We look forward to becoming a great resource for the community.”

The branch library will have eight paid staff members and more than 100 volunteers providing assistance and library services to visitors.
