St. Paul: "Puniest, teeniest" library to expand

Link to February 13 St. Paul Pioneer Press article, "System's smallest facility to expand — but not by much".

Excerpt:
Walk into the West Seventh Community Center in St. Paul and turn right. That room right there, that's the West Seventh Library.

"When people first walk in, if they haven't been before, they do a double-take," said Kathy Clark, a teacher who has volunteered after school at the library for about 20 years. "But if they know our library, they know they can find anything here. It's like a whole little community that way."

But Clark and others used to stare at an interior wall, separating the library from a room next door. "We always said, 'Wouldn't it be great if we could bust through that wall?' " she said.

This month, they did.

Workers have adjoined the two rooms, adding a not-very-whopping 520 square feet to the 784-square-foot library. (The city's next-smallest library, the Dayton's Bluff branch, measures 6,600 square feet. )
