Green Bay-based Hilbert Communications signed on to the project in mid-2009, and will activate 147 miles of fiber-optic cable in that time, marketing director Meredith Medvesek said.
The company had applied for and been declined federal stimulus funding, of which more than $7.2 billion is being allocated to providing broadband to rural communities, but is continuing with the project regardless.
