Broadband Wireless Internet Coming to Rural Sauk County

Excerpt: A 10-year project to bring broadband wireless Internet to Sauk County will launch in Hill Point, Spring Green and North Freedom this spring, eventually allowing the entire county access to high speed Internet.

Green Bay-based Hilbert Communications signed on to the project in mid-2009, and will activate 147 miles of fiber-optic cable in that time, marketing director Meredith Medvesek said.

The company had applied for and been declined federal stimulus funding, of which more than $7.2 billion is being allocated to providing broadband to rural communities, but is continuing with the project regardless
