Cedar Rapid Library Board to Recommmend Site for New Library

Link to January 26 Cedar Rapids Gazette blogpost by Adam Belz, "Library board gears up for big decision, council on deck".

Excerpt: Decision time is almost here. In eight days, the library board will make a recommendation on the future location of the new library.

The council will follow the library’s recommendation with a final decision. It will be perhaps the first major rebuilding decision to have been made since the flood, as strange as that sounds almost two years later.

The new library will be about 108,000 square feet, and it could be built at the site of the old Emerald Knights, or where I’m sitting right now, typing, the Gazette building. A third option is the TrueNorth site, just south of Greene Square Park. The library board has eliminated that as an option, but the city council may still choose it.

Includes aerial views and description of the 3 potential sites.
