Scott Walker Dick blames Jim Doyle

Reported in Complaint alleges state violated open meetings law in Blue Mound State Park snowmobile decision.  (Madison.com, 9/24/2016)

Funny thing, Jim Dick.  "Notice was hereby given" in 2008.  (Highlight added.)

But I can't seem to find a similar notice from 2016

Last night Chris Solari had himself a wonderful dream

The Majors received lots of airplay with this catchy little ditty, although it didn't make a huge impact on the Billboard Hot 100.  It spent 11 weeks on the chart during the late summer and fall of 1962, speaking at #22.  I have always thought it deserved better.

Presenting two of today's most ignored traffic signs

Reported in Highway crashes in Wisconsin increase after speed limit rises.  (Madison.com, 9/24/2016)

Have you driven 70 miles per hour on an Interstate highway since the new law raising the speed limit went into effect?

My most recent experiment took place on the stretch of I-43 between Sheboygan and Manitowoc.  As long as I drove 70 mph, I was the slowest vehicle on the highway by a significant margin.  Once I decided to rejoin the flow of traffic, the speedometer found its way to 80.

When the speed limit was 65, I found the traffic flow was about 72 miles per hour.

Other notably ignored signage.

I have found these signs liberally posted on residential streets where most of the traffic is generated by people who live in the neighborhood.

John D. Loudermilk got some of his songwriting inspiration at the public library

Quoted in John D. Loudermilk, Who Wrote ‘Tobacco Road’ and ‘Indian Reservation,’ Dies at 82.  (The New York Times, 9/22/2016)

In addition to "Sad Movies (Make Me Cry)" and "Paper Tiger", Loudermilk wrote this song for Sue Thompson.  It spent 7 weeks in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 from late January to early March of 1962.

A couple of my Loudermilk favorites.

A #1 country song, 'Abilene', performed by George Hamilton IV also made a dent on the pop charts, spending 14 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 during the summer of 1963, peaking at #15.

Also recorded by country singer George Jones, "Talk Back Trembling Lips" was a top-10 hit for Johnny Tillotson in late 1963/early 1964.

The popularity of 'Donald' as a baby name is graphed here.  Let's take a look at (daughter-in-law) Rhonda.

'Rhonda' experienced a big boost in popularity when this actress, born Marilyn Louis, started making a name for herself in Hollywood.  She enjoyed her best years in the 1950s and 60s, peaking at #37 in 1965, the year the Beach Boys scored a #1 hit with this song.

"Help Me Rhonda" made its debut at #80 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the week ending April 17, 1965.  It spent two weeks at the top and a total of 14 weeks on the chart.
