100 Years of Frank Sinatra: A New Musical Era with Capitol Records Begins

Available in both 78 and 45 rpm formats, Sinatra's first release for Capitol, "Lean Baby", was recorded in Los Angeles on April 2, 1953.  He continued to work with conductor/arranger Axel Stordahl.

The song peaked at #25 on Billboard, although it's not clear on which one of the 3 weekly charts the magazine published then:   best sellers in stores, most played by jockeys, most played in jukeboxes.

The song is included in a 1962 expanded version of Sinatra's second album for Capitol, Swing Easy!, released on August 22, 1954.

Since things are starting to look up for Frank, let's celebrate with some cake.
