Rural Wisconsin school district hangs on for dear life

Benton School District again goes to referendum to preserve its future.  (Madison.com, 3/26/2018)
An 11.4% decrease in enrollment since 2003-04 in one of Wisconsin's smallest school districts.  The Benton School District, with 225 students, is asking voters to approve two referendum questions, each to exceed state-imposed spending limits. The money is needed to offset declining enrollment, which in turn, means less money from the state. The referendum dollars would be used to maintain the current level of operations and to address rising costs for staples like salaries, insurance, transportation, building maintenance, curriculum improvements, technology and security.
