The distant dirty dozen literary career of E. M. Nathanson

Other books mentioned in a 4/7/2016 New York Times obituary, "E. M. Nathanson, Author of 'The Dirty Dozen', Dies at 88" but not found in LINKcat:

The Dirty Dozen is #5 on the list top-grossing movie of 1967.

New York Times movie critic Bosley Crowther found this "raw and preposterous glorification of a group of criminal soldiers" beneath him.

He concludes his review with this dismissive flourish.
Then it is clear that the intent of this loud picture is just to delight and stimulate the easily moved.
If we go back to the summer of 1967, I stand guilty as charged.
