Presidential candidates enjoy visiting small city in Iowa that is 96.6% white

Why presidential candidates are in love with this Iowa town.  (Des Moines Register, 1/29/2016)
Brian Downes says it’s John Wayne. This is his birthplace. The handsome new John Wayne Birthplace & Museum has been host to four visits by candidates. Last week, New York businessman Donald Trump stood by the wax likeness of the Duke while shaking hands.
Politicians, particularly Republicans who have held events here, can identify with Wayne’s patriotism, independence and itch to speak his mind,

It's also located in the county where The Bridges of Madison County is set.

Rick Santorum leads the way with 5 visits.
