Once again, Wisconsin Republicans violate their most precious principle

One that obviously can't be taken seriously anymore.

State budget provision exempts Enbridge from Dane County insurance requirement.  (Wisconsin State Journal, 7/4/2015)

So much for local control.
The provision, which was added to the proposed state budget anonymously, would block a county measure to require Enbridge Energy to carry $25 million in pollution insurance before it can proceed with a planned pipeline capacity expansion.

Scott Walker, Republican leaders remove open records restrictions from Wisconsin budget.  (Wisconsin State Journal, 7/4/2015)

As far as the open records debacle is concerned, Scott Walker is still is 'changes' mode.

Read the other Walker quotes at your own risk.

I have the feeling that 'remove' has a completely different meaning in Walker's vocabulary.

The only acceptable change is to delete the offending language from the budget.  Apparently, that's not and never has been the Governor's plan.   I guess it's something that wasn't on his radar until a few days ago.

According to the website All Music, the album ranks as one of his most jazzy performances, as well as one of his most fun and carefree records.

One of the 8 cuts featured on the original 10" albums.  (4 songs per side.)

You have to wonder what dictionary Joint Finance co-chair John Nygren is working from

Especially after 34 days of closed-door meetings and a budget motion (the notorious #999) chockful of spoiled, stinky, special-interest pork.

Lawmakers slash public records access in budget bill.  (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, 7/3/2015)
The GOP plan would limit public records requests for lawmakers' communications with their staff and for drafting records of legislation after it's been introduced. It would also exempt a host of records created by the Walker administration, state agencies and local governments and put new limits on public access to information about dismissed criminal charges in some instances.

Tell your state legislators not to support the 2015-17 budget until this item is taken out.

Study Suggests That Google Has Its Thumb on Scale in Search.  (The New York Times, 6/29/2015)

The aphorism 'you get what you pay for' comes to mind.
Google entices people to search by promising links to the best that the web has to offer. But research released Monday, led by top academics but paid for by one of Google’s rivals, suggests that Google sometimes alters results to play up its own content despite people’s preferences.

Shocking, right?

Good question, Albert Darling. So why the lack of transparency in Wisconsin?

Budget motion proposes sweeping changes to records access in Wisconsin.  (Capital Times, 7/2/2015)
Included in the 24-page motion were five sections of proposed changes that would severely restrict access to the once-public records of the Legislature.

"This is a very serious full-frontal assault on the state’s traditions of open government," said Bill Lueders, president of the Wisconsin Freedom of Information Council.
