Pennsylvania state budget impasse leads to temporary closing of Jeannette Public Library

Pa. budget impasse forces temporary closure of Jeannette Public Library.  (TribLive, 11/24/2015)

The library will be closed from Monday, November 23, 2015, through Monday, January 4, 2016.

Jeannette is located 26 miles east-southeast of Pittsburgh.

Unlike Wisconsin, if Pennsylvania's state budget isn't approved by June 30, payments for services are suspended until the impasse ends.  When such a situation occurs in Wisconsin, the previous biennial budget remains in effect.

In its manufacturing heyday, Jeannette was home to numerous glass factories, including the Jeannette Glass Company and McKee Glass Works.
