100 Years of Frank Sinatra: "It Happened in Brooklyn"

It Happened in Brooklyn, an MGM musical/romantic comedy, filmed in black and white, opened at the Capitol Theater in New York City on March 13, 1947.  Frank Sinatra received top billing as Danny Miller, a veteran returning home to Brooklyn.  Also appearing are Kathryn Grayson, Jimmy Durante, Peter Lawford, and Gloria Grahame.

New York Times critic Bosley Crowther gave the movie a middling review.
  • ...slow in the narrative stretches.
  • ...humor is not too good.
  • .,..Durante's contribution is a bit on the parsimonious side
But he commended Sinatra for a performance of considerable casual charm.

My paternal grandparents have a Brooklyn connection.  After traveling to the U.S. from Sweden in the mid-1890s, they lived there for a short time before moving to Rockford, Illinois.

Here they are in 1947 during a summer visit with my parents in Washington.  (Mom took the picture.)   I suspect they're in the vicinity of Mt. Rainier.
