UPDATE: On the Matter of Per Diems, Scott Krug Breaks His Promise

Again.  He collects another $6,512 in 2014.

[Original 4/7/2014 post begins here.]

Boxed quote is from State lawmakers' per diem claims topped $1.1M in 2013. (Wisconsin State Journal, 4/6/2014)

One of a number of benefits.  Per diems are meant to cover food and lodging costs while lawmakers are in Madison doing state business. Those who live in Dane County can claim $44 a day while those from outside Dane County receive $88 a day. The amounts are on top of legislators’ nearly $50,000 annual salary.

I don't mind the per diem payments. Lawmakers have a pretty decent salary at $50,000 but many of them have to travel a long way to Madison. Gas is expensive. I get reimbursed for my mileage.

Krug's excuse - 'I only meant my first term in office' - is weak and puny. He should have fessed up that he was wrong to have said that.
