Sprinkler Disaster at the Park County Library System's Meeteetse Branch

Sprinkler system floods Meeteetse library, destroying 5,887 books. (Casper Star-Tribune, 3/9/2013)

The adult fiction and nonfiction collections took the brunt of the damage.

Among the lost items:
  • Irreplaceable editions of Zane Gray westerns
  • First edition of Ansel Adam’s “Tetons and Yellowstone”
  • Rare books of Wyoming, U.S. and world history that have long been out of print.

The Meeteetse Branch serves as both a public and a school library.
